When time is money, a Dartford entrepreneur has the answer to beating traffic congestion.
Rob Hutchings could bring the first motorbike taxis to town after finally winning licensing approval for the service.
He is about to launch his first motorbike taxi service in Canterbury – where the city council has backed the idea.
The authority's backing, however, means he can operate anywhere in the country and Mr. Hutchings has his home town in his sights.
Mr. Hutchings, of Anne of Cleves Road, is excited to at last be able to bring a motorbike taxi service to Kent. |
He said: “In London I had City whizzkids who needed to get to the airport quickly, as well as a premiership footballer and even Ant and Dec.
One day I had to take Cat Deeley between studios. People are drawn to it because you waste so much time sitting in traffic.” Mr. Hutchings, 40, uses a powerful Honda Pan-European bike fitted with a back rest and space for luggage.
The passenger sits behind the rider and is given a helmet with an intercom, gloves and a jacket plus waterproof trousers and a blanket if needed.
Mr. Hutchings has been riding bikes since he was 18 and worked as a motorcycle private hire driver in London for four years. “I can't wait to get started”, he added. |
